Fox Boots Popular Conservative Host Lou Dobbs

President Trump and Pastor Robert Jeffress are among the high-profile conservatives who are praising the work of ex-Fox Business host Lou Dobbs.

Fox Business Network announced that Dobbs would no longer host his popular television program – effective immediately.

The Los Angeles Times, which was the first to break the news, reports that Dobbs will remain under contract at Fox News but is unlikely to appear on any Fox News Channel programs.

"Lou Dobbs is and was great. Nobody loves America more than Lou," President Trump said. "He had a large and loyal following that will be watching closely for his next move, and that following includes me."

Jeffress, the pastor of First Baptist Church in Dallas, was a regular guest on Dobbs' program.

"Lou Dobbs is a truly great American, a consummate journalist, a committed Christian, and a treasured friend. Next to Sunday mornings, visiting with Lou Friday nights has been the highlight of my week for 5 years," Jeffress wrote on Twitter.

Media experts were left wondering why Fox would cancel one of the highest-rated programs on the network.

"As we said in October, Fox News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans have been in place to launch new formats as appropriate post-election, including on Fox Business — this is part of those planned changes," a Fox News Media spokesperson said in an email to the Washington Post. "A new 5 p.m. program will be announced in the near future."

    Conservatives are absolutely livid.

"What cretins. What cowards," Salem Radio host Sebastian Gorka said.

In recent days, there has been a behind-the-scenes purging of conservatives at 1211 Avenue of the Americas. Sources within the building tell me that conservative staffers are terrified about being outed.

Since Roger Ailes left, Fox News has turned to far-left journalism groups to staff newsrooms on both the television and digital of the operation.

"I can't underscore how rare this is. Ratings are normally a shield," CNN's Brian Stelter wrote on Twitter. "Fox Biz viewership is low overall, but Dobbs was the most popular guy. Yet he's cancelled."

I don't think that's going to bode well for them.

Do you think Hannity, Tucker & Judge Jeannie will stay with Fox?

Dobbs was very effective and articulate. I am surprised he got the boot. I'm sure more to follow.

I mean Facebook feeds you have notifications for don't show up on your feeds. Or if they do do they are 1 to 2 days late. The Steve Gruber Show (think that is done) & he does a deal with a lady on America's Voice feed now and never feeds to my news feed. I can almost never see his stuff.

The talk I've read about Trump going into a News Network. I don't know where anyone could see it other than online. No cable organizations would ever carry it. Disney owns them now right? They have Lib's in the big seats there now. So it is what it is.

It seems pretty clear why Mr. Dobbs was let go: the "almighty dollar".

Dobbs' show, Lou Dobbs Tonight, aired twice every evening at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. Eastern. As of next week the show will be called Fox Business Tonight. Dobbs' show was canceled a day after election technology company Smartmatic filed a defamation lawsuit against Fox Corporation and Fox News seeking damages of at least $2.7 billion. The lawsuit specifically names Dobbs along with two other Fox anchors, Maria Bartiromo and Jeanine Pirro, and accuses them of spreading lies about the company's role in the election. Dobbs, according to the lawsuit, was "one of the primary proponents" of a "disinformation campaign" against Smartmatic.

Despite the timing, network sources tell several outlets that the network had already planned to cancel Dobbs before the lawsuit. Officially, Fox News says it stands by its coverage and will defend itself against the lawsuit. "As we said in October, Fox News Media regularly considers programming changes and plans have been in place to launch new formats as appropriate post-election, including on Fox Business," a spokesperson said in a statement. "This is part of those planned changes." Even though he had a highly rated shows, it had trouble appealing to advertisers because companies didn't want to be associated with the far-right views Dobbs espoused on his show. That weakness with advertisers was also a reason to nix Dobbs' show, according to CNN.

If you remember Dobbs fact checked himself after there was a threat of a lawsuit from Smartmatic. And he fact checked himself as being wrong.
