    Texas Officially Defunds Planned Parenthood

After a legal battle that lasted over 5 years, the state of Texas will no longer be funding Planned Parenthood, the nation's largest abortion provider, through the state's Medicaid program.

According to Hot Air, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in Texas' favor in November, after the Texas Office of the Inspector General's (OIG) found that Planned Parenthood had modified abortion procedures to collect aborted baby body parts.

Following that revelation, the OIG terminated the abortion giant's provider contract, which officially ended on Wednesday, Feb. 3. Additionally, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission rejected Planned Parenthood's request for a postponement in implementation.

Every year, Planned Parenthood received about $3.1 million in taxpayer funding from Medicaid. An estimated 8,000 Texans use the state's Planned Parenthood facilities annually, with Houston having the largest abortion facility in the United States.

While Planned Parenthood contended that eliminating funding would hurt women seeking basic health, its former CEO, Leana Wen declared back in 2019 that abortion was the organization's core mission.

"First, our core mission is providing, protecting and expanding access to abortion and reproductive health care," Wen tweeted at the time. "We will never back down from that fight - it's a fundamental human right and women's lives are at stake."

Despite the elimination of funding, abortion continues to be a billion-dollar industry for Planned Parenthood nationwide.

According to its annual report, the abortion giant received $616.8 million in government funding nationally, with 90 percent of it coming from Medicaid.

In his first week in office, President Joe Biden signed an executive order revoking the pro-life Mexico City Policy. The policy aimed to block non-governmental organizations that promote abortions from receiving federal funds. Nonetheless, according to Operation Rescue, a leading pro-life group, the number of abortion clinics in the country has declined by 35 percent since 2009.

Last month, Operation Rescue published its annual report on the status of abortion facilities in the U.S. The report revealed that Missouri became the first "abortion-free state" in America after the last abortion clinic in the state ceased operations.

    Good for you, Texas!

... My ultra-liberal Sister lives there, and she hates it - Says "This state is full of gun-toting, back-woods, Trump supporters"

She would probably stop speaking to me, if she knew I've been voting Republican for years -

I really really don't want to move again. Ever. After 42 times, I'm only moving to Heaven.

I do. Somewhere where it isn't this cold in the winter and they don't usually get snow. I have come to absolutely hate winter in Northern Michigan.
