John MacArthur Hires Trump Lawyer in California Face-Off

Pastor John MacArthur and Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, Calif., have retained two prominent attorneys in response to a cease-and-desist letter threatening jail time or a $1,000 daily fine for continued violations of Gov. Gavin Newsom's (D-Calif.) order shutting down churches. Meanwhile, Mayor Eric Garcetti has allowed protests to continue nightly in LA and certain kinds of businesses remain open.

After Newsom ordered churches to shut on July 13, Grace Community Church released a statement on July 24 explaining that Grace Community Church would remain open. "Christ is Lord of all. He is the one true head of the church (Ephesians 1:22; 5:23; Colossians 1:18). He is also King of kings—sovereign over every earthly authority (1 Timothy 6:15; Revelation 17:14; 19:16). Grace Community Church has always stood immovably on those biblical principles," the church said. "Therefore we cannot and will not acquiesce to a government-imposed moratorium on our weekly congregational worship or other regular corporate gathers. Compliance would be disobedience to our Lord's clear commands."

On July 29, the City of Los Angeles sent a cease-and-desist letter, threatening Grace Community Church and MacArthur with a daily fine of $1,000 or arrest. The letter gave him one day to respond. On Sunday, August 2, health officials came to the church, asking to inspect the premises. The church declined to let them in without a warrant and told them to speak with the church's counsel. At that, they left.

MacArthur is not budging, and he plans to bring legal action if the city carries out its threats....

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

After all he said about the Holy Spirit, I would not want to be in his shoes.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Yet, he is putting churches to shame that are still shut down and empty.

Regardless of his past, I am praying for him. He stood up when many many other pastors would not.

Nikos would you like to be in Kennith Copeland's shoes given he said:

"Wind, almighty strong south wind, heat, burn this thing in the name of Jesus. Satan you bow your knees, you fall on your face, COVID-19 ... I blow the wind of God on you. You are destroyed forever and you will never be back. Thank you, Lord God. Let it happen. Cause it to happen. The wind of God, it doesn't have to be a fast wind,"

and Copeland preached, "It hates heat. It hates humidity, it hates water. It just dies," continued Copeland, "It's even better, I just heard the Lord say this 'cause I've witnessed it, it's even better if there is no wind at all — just enough heat to keep from killing them people in New York City,"

Notice he says "I just heard the Lord say this" yet what he said was all totally untrue.

My comments are about Macarthur who may have or came close to blasphemy. Just because he does something right, does not erase the terrible things he said about the Holy Spirit.

I will never be able to support this man unless he repents, if that's even possible. Macarthur's words about the Holy Spirit are on youtube.

Do you support Kenneth Copeland who claims to be a prophet, yet lies while claiming to speak words given to him by God.

    e.g.

On Friday night, March 13, 2020, at 9:24 p.m., the Word of the Lord came to Kenneth Copeland concerning the Coronavirus COVID-19:"This disease called COVID-19 will be over much sooner than you think. Christian people all over this country praying have overwhelmed it. Give Me all the glory," saith the Spirit of Grace. "And many, many people will come to know Me through it."I am still LORD over this nation, and I am on the throne, and faith in Me changes things!"

Have you called on Kenneth Copeland to repent?
    Do you still support him?

I may stand corrected, but at least he believes in the Holy Spirit.

Funfromoz, have you ever thought that you heard from the Lord about something and then later you found that you were mistaken ?

I will never be accused of being a Johnny Mac fan. In his book "Charismatic Chaos", MacArthur is quoted as saying those who speak in tongues ARE OF THE DEVIL. I had the book but soon ripped it up and tossed it in the garbage. He also said the same on his radio program "Grace" To You. I remember well that morning the spring of 1985 when he said it.

He knows not what spirit he is of. Period.
