Got that right. If it's a liberal it's just par for the course and the media doesn't even care.

    Just saw this too:

No, Ben Carson Didn't Lie About West Point. It's Another Media Hit Job.

Never underestimate the capacity of the media to propagandize against Republicans.

That’s the theme of this morning’s overwrought news coverage on Dr. Ben Carson’s supposed “lie” regarding a “scholarship” to West Point. The story began with Politico, which ran with the audacious headline, “Ben Carson admits fabricating West Point scholarship.” Even I was taken in by the headline – after all, that’s a pretty bold claim!

    Politico began thusly:

Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted, in a response to an inquiry from POLITICO, that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated: his application and acceptance into the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

The key word here is “fabricated.” Did the Carson campaign admit any such thing? Absolutely not. The facts reported by Politico don’t even support this interpretation of the Carson campaign’s response.

According to Politico, Carson said in his 1992 memoir Gifted Hands that he was offered a “full scholarship” to West Point after dining with General William Westmoreland in 1969. Here’s the relevant passage from Carson’s autobiography:

At the end of my twelfth grade I marched at the head of the Memorial Day parade. I felt so proud, my chest bursting with ribbons and braids of every kind. To make it more wonderful, We had important visitors that day. Two soldiers who had won the Congressional Medal of Honor in Viet Nam were present. More exciting to me, General William Westmoreland (very prominent in the Viet Nam war) attended with an impressive entourage. Afterward, Sgt. Hunt introduced me to General Westmoreland, and I had dinner with him and the Congressional Medal winners. Later I was offered a full scholarship to West Point. I didn’t refuse the scholarship outright, but I let them know that a military career wasn’t where I saw myself going.

That’s the entire relevant portion of Carson’s account. He reiterated that account last month in an interview with Charlie Rose, when he said, “I was offered a full scholarship at West Point, got to meet General Westmoreland and go to Congressional Medal of Honor dinners. But decided really my pathway would be medicine.”

Politico followed up on this story. They reported one additional piece of information that seems to conflict with Carson’s story: Carson never applied to West Point, and was never extended admission.

But Carson never said he applied. He said he was extended a full scholarship offer. What’s more, West Point doesn’t offer scholarships: all admission is free contingent on serving in the military afterwards. It thus seems probable that Westmoreland or another military figure tried to recruit Carson, telling him that he wouldn’t have to pay for his education...

In conservative politics, this is a death sentence. The liberals, who champion liars, will sick the news media on this and soon Mr Carson will be totally un-electable. This is how politics in the US works.

This is why Trump may be a better candidate because out of all of the people running for the repub nomination... he seems to be the only one who the media cannot destroy.

We're almost assuredly going to get Hillary for 8 years anyway so this is all most likely a moot point.

The majority of this nation's citizens are liberals who enjoy their sinful lifestyles and government freebies, plus Hillary will continue deconstructing this nation which has to happen to make way for the one world government and the anti-christ along with his side kick the pope as false prophet

A good campaign manager would have told the media to speak with Mr Carson about that.

Ben Carson did NOT lie about anything. They twisted the story. Why are we sitting here accepting what the LIBERAL news media says about a good man? Farm Truck, you of all people should have known better before posting that crap.

I kinda tried to caution him to maybe slow down a little bit in another thread...

    Proverbs 18:13
He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

Politico Changes Headline on Carson Story, Pretends It Didn’t
By Blake Neff Published on November 7, 2015
    https://stream.org/politico-changes-...retends-didnt/

Politico has already begun to backtrack its explosive story accusing Ben Carson of lying about an acceptance to West Point, deleting its claim that Carson had confessed to “fabricating” his admission.

When it first published its story Friday morning, the Virginia-based blog aggressively declared that Carson had admitted to telling a big lie about his past.

“Ben Carson’s campaign on Friday admitted … that a central point in his inspirational personal story was fabricated,” Politico’s story originally said.

Just hours later, though, this opening line was removed entirely and Politico’s accusation significantly scaled back.

“Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson on Friday conceded that he never applied nor was granted admission to West Point,” the new lede says. While the difference may appear slight, the change is dramatic, as Carson is no longer accused of fabricating anything...

Actually saying someone conceded to an untruth is pretty much the same thing.

    Femme's article caught that too:

"...The cleaned-up story still says that Carson "conceded that he never applied nor was granted admission to West Point." To concede is to admit that something is true."

    Another good point here too:

"...The original story claimed that Carson also lied by claiming he was offered a full scholarship to West Point since the service academy is entirely taxpayer funded. Or, as Politico put it: "indeed there are no 'full scholarships,' per se." The only problem with this is that the academy itself describes this benefit as a "full scholarship."

There was nothing wrong about posting the story per se, it made it into the national news and it was going to be discussed by many, a heads up is good thing.

What does puzzle me tho is why he immediately believed it to be true.
