Today's the day. The Trump administration has officially sent some of Planned Parenthood's taxpayer funding to legitimate health care groups that provide tangible health care instead of abortions.

This action adds to President Trump's record of defunding the Planned Parenthood abortion company.

Planned Parenthood refuses to follow a new Trump administration rule that requires it to segment out its abortion business from legitimate health care if it wants federal funding under the Title X program. Because the abortion giant is withdrawing from Title X, the $60 million in taxpayer dollars it received annually can be redistributed to groups that engage in legitimate women's health care.

Today, HHS announced $33.6 million in funds for fiscal year 2019 to Title X grantees from the funds made available when Planned Parenthood left the program.

"Today, the Office of Population Affairs (OPA) announced $33.6 million in fiscal year 2019 funding awards to 50 current Title X grantees in order to supplement their family planning services. The funds awarded were relinquished by grantees that left the Title X program rather than comply with statutory and regulatory requirements prohibiting federal funding where abortion is a method of family planning. HHS expects that the supplemental awards will enable grantees to come close to—if not exceed—prior Title X patient coverage," the agency told LifeNews in an email.

"Today's awards prioritize unserved and underserved jurisdictions and low-income individuals. These awards also prioritize filling service gaps left by the grantees that chose to leave the Title X program rather than comply with the law," HHS said. "HHS is committed to ensuring that Americans have access to high-quality, affordable family planning services, contraceptive care, cancer and HIV screenings, health education, and other health and social services."

The following Title X grants were discontinued. ...

...Catherine Glenn Foster, President and CEO of Americans United for Life, told LifeNews she was not surprised Planned Parenthood put abortion first and women's health second.

"It's a great day for women's health in America. Planned Parenthood is America's deadliest nonprofit, and the news that they're refusing to accept taxpayer funds to target vulnerable women is a good thing for women's health. Women deserve the chance to live empowered, full lives that are free from the harms that Planned Parenthood poses through abortion and abortion-focused services. Women who need true healthcare will have their needs met by authentic and eager healthcare providers across America," she said.

Ashley McGuire, Senior Fellow with The Catholic Association, added: "In withdrawing from Title X, Planned Parenthood has made it crystal clear that abortion is its number one priority. Planned Parenthood could have chosen to make the investment to restructure to be compliant with federal law, or have chosen to abandon abortion altogether and focus instead on women's health. Instead, the abortion chain is walking away from tens of millions of dollars of money earmarked to help low income women.

Recently fired president Dr. Leana Wen said she was ousted because she wanted to promote comprehensive women's health over abortion.

Once again, Planned Parenthood is placing abortion above all else, most especially the low income women they claim to be serving."
