Media Rooting Against North Korea Peace

Kayleigh McEnany slammed some mainstream media outlets for finding ways to criticize President Trump even after his historic agreement with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to denuclearize the Korean Peninsula.

She said that some outlets were rooting against the deal and were sinking "to new negative lows" with their coverage.

"If you're rooting against this deal -- and it appears that some in the media were, at least by their coverage -- you're not only rooting against America. You're rooting against peace. You're rooting against the free world," she said.

McEnany said that Trump deserves credit for the agreement and that it's making the world safer.

Trump and Kim signed a document on Tuesday stating that Pyongyang would work toward "complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."

The historic agreement came after the two leaders held several meetings throughout the day.

Fox News contributor Jessica Tarlov argued that although the media as a whole agrees that history was made, she is more concerned about the results of Trump's action.

"There is a lot of hypocrisy going on right now certainly about [former] President [Barack] Obama, who wanted to normalize relations with Cuba," she said.

She said that many people were critical of Obama traveling to Cuba and meeting with Raúl Castro.

Tarlov added that it was hypocritical to call Kim a "a very talented man" shortly after saying Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau "acted so meek and mild" during the G7 Summit.

McEnany, spokesperson for the Republican National Committee, also said that Trump's agreement will bode well for Republicans in the midterm elections.

"He's achieving history at record rates," she said.

I mean it's almost unbelievable. It really is hard to comprehend. But then that just shows you the condition of people's hearts. This is almost supernatural hatred, demonic.

It will be interesting to see if the Trump admin will make this agreement similar to the Iran deal that they hated then abandoned. We all know that the North Korean regime is far worse than the Iranian regime has ever been, so how is this is any better than the Iran deal ? Maybe it boils down to "You hate us, we hate you etc"

What I get from Trump's comments is that he is dealing with the major cards in front of him, keeping mind of the big picture that its astonishing that they are even both literally sitting at the table.

This is very early stages, and Trump indicated that anything can happen, but he is being smart enough to keep his comments on this in a positive light (rather than go with the too-easily pessimistic tone, given the bad history).

We are watching theatre. Trump and Kim have been talking frequently for months and have probably met in person, rumor is this happened on Trumps visit to China.

    All will be well.

We always fall for these "summits" and such. Does anyone really believe that Kim and Trump hammered out that agreement in the half hour meeting in Singapore? lol. It was a done deal, all of it. The "Singapore Summit" was just a photo opp.

The media is so obsessed with partisan shots that they can't even conceive of giving this whole process a proper perspective.

The same people that hated the Iran deal are now hating the haters of the North Korea deal.

You Peeps know I'm NOT a Trump fan - Didn't vote for him, BUT, I applaud his efforts so far - Whether I personally "Like" him or not, he is my President - I don't "hate" him, I pray for him.

I don't know which is worse: The visceral hatred that's being shown toward him, or that which was demonstrated against Prez Obama.

I agree wholeheartedly with Susan: I'm just so sad that our country has come to this awful, hate-filled place.

(Edited to Add: Didn't vote for Obama either, by the way.)
