    Some data on government spending as a percentage of GDP, for the US, Australia, and Canada, for 2012. (I couldn't get Norway's data.)

    World: %28
    Australia: %26
    USA: %24
    Canada: %17.5

    For the US, it looks like we hit a local peak after the latest recession, but we're now on a declining trend.
