While I also agree with what Bookman said, I have to disagree with people who say we need "better education." - My Hubby works in the public schools, and he says - and it pains me to even type this - that the overwhelming majority of the kids who cause disruptions are the AA kids.

The only people who are preventing them from getting a good education are their parents, who don't discipline them, who don't follow up and make sure they do their homework, who don't come to PTA meetings, and who threaten the teachers when their kids are suspended for fighting, etc.

He does the best he can to be a mentor and role model to them, but it breaks his heart on a daily basis.

I have absolutely no patience with people who keep blaming "The System" for kids who don't get an education - No one is standing with arms crossed at the doorway to the schools (like they did in the old days), or turning dogs loose, or fire hoses on them to prevent them from attending school.

Yup working for the Public Schools briefly was what drove me off the democratic party plantation permanently

NO, I think I was caught up in that thread and was hopeful we had made a breakthrough....

I know you were kidding here but you raise a thought...

Sometime back a post I made was attributed to someone else and that statement you made never occurred to anyone....and yet I knew the minute Bap posted that correction it would be here....not because it's true but just because it is such a common accusation...isn't that sad?

Ya know, Quest... I think a lot of the time, we take ourselves too seriously, and are too quick to become "offended."

I like to give people the benefit of doubt - ESPECIALLY my Sisters and Brothers in Christ - We should be able to laugh, and joke and poke fun at one another, and if, by chance, we offend, we should apologize and move on.

Sometimes, people make remarks that (in their minds) are totally innocent, and "super-sensitive" peeps take offense, and are waaaaaay too quick to respond in anger, rather than in love.
