I don't think she ever went to Wasilla, I think that was a bit of hyperbole on Sarah Palin's part, but I don't blame her for being protective of her children and indulging in a bit of schadenfreude at Ms. Griffin's expense.

Hard to repent like that and then continue to function in the limelight. But towards family and friends, definitely.

Some other page I found suggests that she did so to invite them to some kind of an event but it doesn't say if they opened the door and if so, what was said.

Palin states that Griffin knocked on her door while she was in Wasila. I have to take that literally.

This is very clear that she knocked on the door of SP.

"she even paid Levi to appear on her show…. where she flew to Alaska……. drove to my parents house… drove down their long driveway passing every single one of their “no trespassing” signs. (I always wonder what people think when their so clearly visible… like honestly – “oh they must not mean ME.”) She knocked on their front door with an entire camera crew and put the footage on her show.."

Right, she did knock on the door but they weren't home:

That doesn't sound much like the Palin quote :
When this "celebrity" (who "celebrates" her, btw?) traveled all the way to Wasilla and actually knocked on my home's door to personally humiliate my kids again, I knew she was deranged.

"In 2010, Griffin went to the Palin house in a sort of stunt for her show, "My Life on the D-List," and left a note inviting the family to an upcoming comedy performance."
The content of the note :
“Dear Palins who are 18 years old or older (mostly Sarah). I’m doing a funny comedy show on Friday night at the Anchorage Performing Arts Centre. Come see me. I’ll even comp you or at least a two-for. xoxo, Kathy Griffin.”

"Griffin called Palin's daughter Bristol "white Precious", and Palin invited Griffin to come to Alaska and bully her in person."
That explains it. It seems that Kathy Griffin went by her house when she was in Alaska for a show anyway. Not to bully her kids, that must be in Palin's imagination.
It seems to me that Palin is making the most of that now that Kathy Griffin is in trouble. Seems a bit vindictive.
