On my FB Page and in a Facebook group that I am a part of called "Black Conservatives for Truth," we have been debating this subject. Some lefties always have a new twist when you show them that Obama said the same thing. Here is the response I got when I showed them evidence that Obama called slaves immigrants as well:
"The context Ben made the statements and the idea that a slave was dreaming about how good their children lives would be is just asinine. He clearly worded it wrong and if he hadn't he wouldn't have made 2 later attempts to reword what he said."
and another person to me:
"Obama did not talk about slaves coming here with dreams for their children. Carson did, and unlike Obama was silent about the fact that they came here involuntarily. Huge difference."
Notice now that the focus is no longer on the word "immigrant". The left always wants to change the narrative at their convenience. So I decided to show them a quote where Obama said this:
President Obama said, ".... whether your forebears landed at Ellis Island OR THEY CAME HERE ON A SLAVE SHIP or they crossed the Rio Grande, or however they got here, they typically had a commitment to hard work and a commitment to community and a commitment to family and A WILLINGNESS TO DREAM BIG DREAMS, and a patriotism that was not rooted in ethnicity but was rooted in a creed and a set of ideals and a belief that in America anything was possible."
The above quote was found in the link below:

The left is a reactionary group who continues to do themselves in. When the left begins screaming about something you only need to wait a day or two before some wise person is able to dig up plenty of hypocrisy on their part.
