    I didn't call you a liberal.

But you were using the same kind of nonsensical response/evasion that I would expect to see from the liberal side.

    Seriously.
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...

By the way, you still haven't answered the question.

Not trying to twist words....just trying to understand why anyone says "the best qualified" should be hired, when that easily extends to women, and minorities as well. Why WOULDN'T someone in authority want to hire a diverse mix?

Susan, I know you posted a link of President Trump's suggested cabinet members, and I have to say at least ONE of those is SO not qualified for that position. Devos is a joke, an absolute joke.

oh...sorry, you're right I didn't answer your question. (well, I sorta did at the beginning of this post, but I'll clarify) Susan said, "No, we need qualified people running the government, not a checklist for diversity." And I responded, "You're saying there aren't any qualified people that aren't white males?" Truly...a valid question. She was saying that we don't need a diversity checklist, that we need qualified people, and I believe there ARE qualified people that are being overlooked. I think President Trump doesn't really look for necessarily "quality" people whether they are black/white/male/female/tranny/purple/etc. Devos is the perfect example.

From my conversation with those in the know, and whose opinion I trust because they're Christian educators, and Conservative voters, one of whom happens to be my niece who teaches Science in the Atlanta Public School system in Georgia.

So in this area on Education, I trust their opinion on DeVos that she is not the person to head this department.

However, I don't expect all of President Trump's appointees to have everyone's approval. There will always be some of us that don't agree with all of his choices. That's human, so I won't sweat the small stuff.

I believe if she doesn't do the job effectively, she'll be "fired".

One of the article I posted touches on that too...

...Are Vouchers Just a Leash in Big Brother’s Hand?

Ironically, religious conservatives are also raising difficult questions for DeVos. As Breitbart reports, grass-roots connected with homeschooling and religious freedom groups are concerned by DeVos’s close ties to longtime advocates of Common Core (such as, most prominently, Gov. Jeb Bush). Karen Effrem of Education Liberty Watch told Breitbart:

There is also great concern about her support of voucher programs imposing Common Core on private and potentially home schools, and extensive student data mining. These concerns are especially acute given President-elect Trump’s encouraging and repeated promises to get rid of Common Core, protect privacy and decrease or eliminate the federal role in education.

A debate has long simmered among religious conservatives over the wisdom of promoting federally-financed school voucher programs, given the track record of the federal government at imposing faith-busting mandates on religious institutions, such as the Little Sisters of the Poor. Just in 2016, the state of California came within a hairsbreadth of demanding that Christian colleges renounce their stances on marriage and sexual morality or face the loss of tens of millions in federal aid, on which such colleges have become financially dependent.

Could religious schools that accepted such aid from a President Trump find themselves over a barrel under a future Democratic president? Could home schoolers who received vouchers face a “transgender” mandate like President Obama’s, which affected local schools across America? If we have learned one thing in the past eight years, it is to put absolutely nothing past the left. If we can imagine it, soon enough progressives will try to get away with it.

Exactly....I've been teaching at the college level for about 10 years, and my ex-husband has been teaching in the state school system, high school and elementary school for 25 years. We understand that the system is flawed, but bringing in someone with no background and who is just clueless about how the system even works is not the solution.

Sorry Godismyjudge...I won't be clicking on your articles. I prefer to watch the actual videos where she is being questioned, and listen to her responses. I don't want someone else's spin....I want my own judgements and decisions. (generally how I make all of my opinions)

So, you mad because the WOMAN is not qualified? :-D Who else do you think is not qualified? Or, because he made a bad pick, he's never to be trusted again?
