Hollywood is still holding out hope...
A group of celebrities have teamed up in a last-ditch attempt to prevent Donald Trump from becoming President of the United States.
In a video posted to YouTube Wednesday by Unite for America, the actors and actresses urged Republican members of the Electoral College to vote for someone other than Trump.
The video features Martin Sheen, Richard Schiff, Debra Messing, James Cromwell, BD Wong, Bob Odenkirk, Moby and others.
"Only 37 Electors are needed to change the course of history. Record your own video addressing the Electors directly—let them know why you support them, and share why you think their decision is so important to America," the video's description reads.
Many of the actors and actresses say that are not calling for electors to vote for Hillary Clinton but instead "any eligible person" they feel is more competent than Trump to be president.
Thursday on "America's Newsroom," host Bill Hemmer discussed the video with Doug Schoen, former advisor to President Bill Clinton, and Tony Sayegh, a Republican strategist.
"Stop telling people how to influence and otherwise undermine our electoral system," Schoen said, calling these celebrities "self-appointed spokespeople whose only real credential is celebrity."
"I understand Hollywood B-list and C-list actors are always looking for work, but this is also undermining what Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton said during the campaign, which is you have to accept the peaceful order of transition to a different administration," Sayegh said.
The 538 members of the Electoral College are set to convene Monday to cast their official votes for the next president. Trump won a total of 306 electoral votes on Election Day.
In recent days, a group of electors have called on the federal government to provide them with an intelligence briefing on alleged Russian interference in the election.
