Obama faces sharp repudiation and a legacy nightmare

    Story highlights
    • Obama campaigned heavily for Clinton, constantly warning voters about Trump
    • The President and White House staffers were stunned by Tuesday's vote

Washington (CNN)For President Barack Obama, Donald Trump's presidential victory is nothing less than a nightmare.

His longstanding vision for progressive change faced sharp and unexpected repudiation Tuesday night from voters still fuming at their perceived diminished prospects.

By Obama's own admission, the major pieces of his presidential legacy are now subject to a gutting by a successor he resents deeply.

But the President insisted to his supporters and Democrats Wednesday this is not the end.

"The sun is up, and I know everybody had a long night. I did as well," Obama said in the White House Rose Garden.

Obama will likely leave office with an approval rating of over 50%, and it's a truism of American politics that ex-presidents get more popular after they leave the White House.

Nothing, however, can paper over the fact that the first African-American president will stand on the inaugural platform next to Donald Trump, who stoked divisions and preyed on people's racist fears, including through lies and insinuations about Obama himself...

That's hard to believe, but of course we've just seen first hand how far off polls can be.

He also said this in the article...""It's one of the few regrets of my presidency that the rancor and suspicion between the parties has gotten worse instead of better," Obama said in his final State of the Union address earlier this year."

Simple answer...YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO LEAD and unify

    NOT.

Something else from my FB feed... by someone named Ted Wynn: https://www.facebook.com/teddysjamz/...54193640812523

People are saying "AMERICA HAS SPOKEN". Let me be CRYSTAL CLEAR - White America has spoken. Trump got 63% of white men and 52% of white women - that coupled with LOW voter turn out gave him the win - and based on available date, he DID NOT WIN the popular vote - which means the MAJORITY of people in America did NOT vote for him. The fact that the majority of folks believe he's unqualified but still elected him is DIRECTLY connected to his male white privilege. If he was ANYTHING other than rich, white & male there is NO way he would be POTUS. This is why I KEEP raising the conversation about racism & privilege - and I will KEEP doing it until we have an honest dialogue about where we are! As a black man I'm deeply saddened, but not surprised.

As I said to Firebrand on my FB page, it's not racist to say White America got Trump in the WH. It's just the truth.
Oh, BTW, ValWoman in another thread said the Black Panthers endorsed Trump, but that doesn't impress me one bit, because guess what? So did the KKK.

So please excuse me if I'm not all that excited.

Yeah, whiny liberals that did't get their way. They always react like this when things don't go their way.

Doesn't that mean that there is a undercurrent of violent Democrats who do not want unity and peace but only want chaos and refuse to submit to laws of the land.

These same radical lefties will one day rise up against true Christians

In spite of what both Clinton and Obama said about giving Trump a chance. A lot of these are the spoiled millinnials that are used to having their way and not being told 'no', and that are ill-equipped to handle any adversity. Nobody every told them things weren't always going to go their way, and if it didn't, be sure to throw a tantrum.
