    My impression is that Obama's father being a non-American which made him less of an American to some people than an African-American with a domestic heritage may have had as much to do with it. And that Hillary Clinton not getting elected may have had a lot more to do with her being a woman. White men may approve of white women in most positions but as POTUS ? Some people might have bothered to go vote for her if she had simply been a man instead of a woman.

    ...aaand don't forget, the whole "is he a closet Muslim" question. Which to me was totally ridiculous.

    It is ridiculous based on his background alone but not necessarily based on things he has said and done after he got elected.
