People are saying "AMERICA HAS SPOKEN". Let me be CRYSTAL CLEAR - White America has spoken. Trump got 63% of white men and 52% of white women - that coupled with LOW voter turn out gave him the win - and based on available date, he DID NOT WIN the popular vote - which means the MAJORITY of people in America did NOT vote for him. The fact that the majority of folks believe he's unqualified but still elected him is DIRECTLY connected to his male white privilege. If he was ANYTHING other than rich, white & male there is NO way he would be POTUS. This is why I KEEP raising the conversation about racism & privilege - and I will KEEP doing it until we have an honest dialogue about where we are! As a black man I'm deeply saddened, but not surprised.

As I said to Firebrand on my FB page, it's not racist to say White America got Trump in the WH. It's just the truth.
Oh, BTW, ValWoman in another thread said the Black Panthers endorsed Trump, but that doesn't impress me one bit, because guess what? So did the KKK.

So please excuse me if I'm not all that excited.
I find it a lot more interesting that African Americans vote so predominantly Democrat. 90-10 or something like that. It's like they are stereotyping themselves as "a race" instead of as a multitude of different individuals who share a common skin color and genetic background.

Collectivism is another form of racism.

But perhaps I'm missing the point and one of my progressive friends can enlighten me. Please help me understand.

When it comes to a black candidate vs. a white candidate, when blacks vote for the black candidate in overwhelming percentages, that's not racist, but when whites vote for the white candidate in fairly large percentages, that is racist. Can anyone explain how that works?

I dunno...but let me try to express what I'm feeling

For almost all of this country's existence, power was held in the hands of white folk (white privilege?)...that started to change in earnest during the civil rights movement of the 60's where you saw worse protests then then what we're seeing now...

Then all of a sudden a black man was elected POTUS both in 2004 and 2008, and people lost their minds

An intelligent BLACK MAN, who was not your typical (stereotypical) black man--he was educated, and carried himself with grace and class. Yeah, his ideology scared a lot of ya'll, and many here thought that he would usher in the Apocalypse because he wasn't Christian enough and was going to rip babies from women's wombs personally, have gay orgies in the WH and a lot of other heinous acts.

So here comes 2015, and a narcissistic TV personality/billionaire that played on all the fears of White Christian America announces he's gonna run for president, but nobody really believed he would get as far as he did (maybe except some well known prophetic folks), but he did, continuing to scare the bejeezus out of everybody in the meantime. But his "message" (?) resonated with the forgotten white folk in rural America (especially) and apparently everybody else. People who were resentful that a uppity black man got to stay in the WH for eight years..

But the fact that Donald J Trump WAS WAS WAS a New York Democrat initially was lost on a lot of ya'll. Up until he announced he was running for prez he believed EXACTLY the opposite of what ya'll wanted. He KNEW ya'll were scared of Obama and he played into that. And it worked.

So now we'll see if he keeps his "promises".

The Democrats are not without fault as well...They should have developed a better candidate than Hillary. Seriously. She had too much baggage with her. Maybe 2020 will see different results and Trump with be in just four years (IF HE DECIDES TO STAY IN OFFICE)..

I don't think this election was about Trump or Black/White so much as it was really about US vs. THEM, THEM being the establishment of which Obama, the black man was only a figurehead/puppet.

The people wanted to throw off the old.
