Yes, lots of questions concerning the rule of law.

I probably would put the 18 year old getting to "know" the 16 year old on a time frame as being a sex offender like maybe 5 or 8 years and then let them off of the pervert list if they kept their nose clean.

But, those that do rape and molest children should be locked up for life... and we need to have prisons out in the desert where they grow their own food and the facility is sustained by inmate labor so it costs the taxpayers little or nothing.

And, we should have lots of gospel preachers going in to these places to get these folks saved... that way if they start wackin one another with their gardening equipment they will have had their opportunity to have heard the Gospel.

    Sorry for the late response.

Generally speaking, I believe that a person who has served their sentence, shown contrition, and made restitution to the victim or victim's family, should be fully re-integrated into the community; with the ability to vote, own a gun, serve on a jury, live where he pleases, and work. There are examples of this concept in the Bible. (e.g., Lev 6:2-5)

If we say to a released convict: You can walk out of jail, but you can't live among us and you can't work with us, then essentially we're imposing a life sentence, posting a "scarlet A" on his back, and driving him to the only people who will have him - a criminal gang.

Along these lines, I believe it's instructive to consider the example of Paul, who Christians accepted and even made their leader after he repented of the crimes he committed against Christians.

Not agreeing or disagreeing with your post in general, but Paul isn't really an example of a person getting out of prison and being reintegrated into society. He had an extraordinary experience with God and was converted. That generally isn't the case with somebody being release from prison.

Trust is earned huh ? But maybe there should be more programs for temporary employment of ex-cons. To give them a chance to demonstrate that they have changed.

    One has to be careful.

I heard a story of somone who let a rapist stay at this house and that person raped his daughter. He asked God why He let that happen and God's response was why didn't you ask Me if you should let him stay?

There are things I've done in the past that other's don't know about and actually have said they've allowed me to do things as they feel they can trust me in that area. This can only be a "God thing". But one should not be foolish when dealing with evil.

The letter I received said I can vote, serve on a jury, become a notary and hold a public office - But I CANNOT own a FIREARM - Which I can totally understand

Believe it or not, I'm one of the 13,000 people who just had my voting rights restored by our Governor. My signed, sealed, Certificate arrived in the mail yesterday.

Yep, I was found guilty of a felon - When I was 19, I was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, and definitely with the wrong people.

While I never spent time in prison, and walked away with a stern warning from the Judge (Thank-you Jesus!), I still had a "criminal record" which (among other things), affected my ability to apply for some amazing and lucrative job opportunities, - Sin certainly has its consequences.

I'm excited that I will be able to serve on a jury and vote again, However, I won't be voting for Trump or Clinton.

I will definitely go to the polls, but I will "Write-In" the name of one of the other Republican candidates.
I'm very happy for you Romans!! Very! I've never agreed with that law in some states (thank God it's not a Michigan law) to take away a person's voting rights after they've served their time. I believed it was racist in nature, and I still do. Prayerfully, it will move other states to do the same.

While I'm happy your voting rights were restored, I can't say the same for your choice to write-in a candidate for President. May as well vote for Hillary. But that's another discussion.

    I celebrate with you sister!
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

I totally understand what you're saying, Sis, but at this point, I just cannot vote for Trump.

Unfortunately, I think Hillary is gonna win any way.

Don't think that. I really think Trump is gonna surprise. Would Trump be my first choice? No. Be he is miles ahead of Hillary. We KNOW what she stands for and it isn't good at all. As ValW said not to vote for him is basically a vote for Hillary. Please prayerfully reconsider this.

    Thank you.
