How the GOP could cut ties with Trump

IMHO, I think they should do something, because Trumpster is really hurting their brand.

Washington (CNN) As Republican angst about Donald Trump grows closer to panic, some longtime GOP strategists and donors are discussing creative ways to cut their presumptive nominee loose at their convention in July.
There's renewed talk in some Republican circles to find a way out as Trump lags big time behind Hillary Clinton in several new polls, and he has the highest unfavorable rating of any candidate for a major party on record -- 70% in this week's Washington Post-ABC poll.

One source with knowledge of these discussions underscores to CNN, however, that all of the ideas being bandied about now are highly unlikely to see fruition -- mostly because this kind of move to get rid of a nominee elected by GOP primary and caucus voters would be unprecedented. And a second source says he has spoken directly to senior GOP operatives with extensive convention experience who are actively exploring how to dump Trump.

I think a lot of these Republicans privately agree with Trump. But his lack of PC and his not caring what others think, because they do care what others think about them, scares them. I think they're resisting and decrying him publicly but personally agree with him.

Shucks, I agree with building a wall between America and Mexico, putting a freeze on immigrants from the Middle East, strengthening our military, re-negotiating our deals with China and bringing jobs back to the U.S. too...

BUT, there's just this check in my gut that says Trump is all talk and no action - That he can't be trusted to keep his word, and that because of his lack of a filter on his mouth, there is no way in you-know-where that he will beat Hillary.

Let's face it folks, we will inaugurate the first female President of the United States in January.

Trump is unelectable, bottom line...I'm sure there are well-meaning, sincere folks who are supporting him, people who are concerned about the direction the country is going in. But he's not the answer.

I'm not so sure about that. I think it could be surprising. Even with the recent polls.

Time will tell - And even if he does win, I'll only rejoice because Hillary didn't

Like him or not, he got the votes, he is the peoples choice. However, I do expect those who represent special interests and concentrated power (GOP establishment) to topple Trump.

I would say that if they don't remove Trump from the GOP ticket, it's because they don't believe that Trump will attempt to do what he's promised, or that his attempts will be blocked in Congress.

    Exactly!

As to the question of him keeping his promises, very few presidents fulfill their promises. They don't have that power.
