How to acquire a dictator in the future

"I was thinking about this over the last few nights while I couldn't sleep. I have to say, I do want President Trump to be the "dictator" the Left thinks he is, and I want the right to be as devoted to locking up and silencing our violent political enemies as they pretend we are. I've had enough of the Left only thinking we will defund them, prosecute them, lock them up and dismantle their power for generations to come. It just needs to happen."

This is exactly how one acquires a dictator. Putin's voters wanted him to be the strong leader that took charge of Russia and world affairs. In the beginning this worked rather well within the framework of democracy, but after a while he consolidated more power to himself and there was a clampdown on political enemies. Putin's voters were still happy, and Putin's elites were happy. Soon there was trouble for the common Russian, especially with the advent of the war on Ukraine, and there was a clampdown not only on political enemies but also on free speech itself. The common Russian was no longer happy, but the elites that were loyal to Putin still were.
Russia is however a corrupt society, especially at the top, and Putin knew that he could send most of the elite to years in prison based on their various doings that involved breaking the law. Which is what he's currently doing, and now noone is safe in Russia, unless they happen to currently have trust and favor from mr. Putin. Which was exactly the situation under Stalin in the 1930s.

Would Trump go down that path? I don't think so. He's too old to get started, basically. And I'm not so sure that he's the type for it. But if the attitude that Laura Loomer displays is common in MAGA and Republican circles, then it's likely to happen in the future, involving a younger person who welcomes the opportunity given to him or her. The person involved could even become the Anti-Christ. Which doesn't require leftist politics, at least not to begin with.

No, Loony Loomer does not represent most of MAGA or the Republicans.

I do hope that you Americans have more sense than the Russians have had. At least it's in their culture to do that. There are still lots of people there that worship various czars, Stalin etc.

Trump has done NOTHING that he has not been given power as President to do. Biden never got called out for doing some of the things he did. It was in his power to do them, and it's in Trumps power to do them. Trump is not doing anything with illegal immigrants that everybody up to Biden espoused, including Obama and Bill Clinton. Even Pelosi. They were never called out back then. Even the pics of the illegal immigrant 'cages' were found out to be from Obama's administration. The only difference is one is Trump and they hate him. Total double standard and hypocrisy.

Do this, and if you are not a wicked man, and a stranger to God, you will soon have as much of the spirit of prayer as your body can sustain. -Charles Finney 'The Spirit of Prayer' from 'Lectures On Revivals of Religion'

Putin's opposition wasn't necessarily any better than he was, when he took over in 2000. He had to fix things after the notorious drunk Boris Yeltsin had been mismanaging the country and handing Soviet assets over to the oligarchs. Boris Yeltsin was almost an antithesis to the Communists, who still had a large voter base. Many of the Communists wanted their own kind of strong man ala Stalin. Or just a strong regime, like many of the Democrats in the US want. Meaning that the president doesn't seem that strong, but the regime behind him is. The Communist coup against Gorbachev in 1991 would have produced another hardliner Communist regime - without a strong leading figure, because they lacked that.
