.
Can someone tell me why this is a problem?

Immigrants typically take mandatory Norwegians classes here. Some English speaking professionals just use English and it doesn't seem to matter how long they are here. I suppose that if they added English as a second official language then there would be much more of that.

Immigrants who seek U.S. citizenship already have to pass an English-only test.
The only problem that I can envision would be if the government prohibits foreign language signs.

In New York City, government forms are required to be available in the following languages: English, Spanish, Chinese (Mandarin, Cantonese and Taiwanese), Russian, Bengali, Haitian Creole, Korean, Arabic, Urdu, French, and Polish. NYC is a linguistically diverse city, so I would hope that this policy would continue.

It seems that the executive order only applies at the federal level, and even there "agencies may still provide documents and services in other languages"

Nothing wrong with a nation having an official language. They can still accommodate migrants with their native language
