Kaepernick Says White Adoptive Parents Perpetuated Racism

Colin Kaepernick has apparently grown tired of waging war on the American flag, so he's found a new target for his perpetual indignation — his white parents.

Kaepernick accused Teresa and Rick Kaepernick, his white adoptive mom and dad, of perpetuating racism.

He detailed their alleged racism in a new graphic novel.

In one instance, his mother objected when a teenage Colin wanted to embrace his blackness by wearing cornrows.

"He's getting what rolls?" his mom says in the graphic novel.

Kaepernick said his mom warned that his hair was "not professional" and he "looked like a little thug."

What mother has not objected to the hairstyles and fashion choices of their children? Does that make someone a racist?

Skin color aside, Kaepernick says he still loves his parents — allegedly.

"I know my parents loved me, but there were still very problematic things that I went through. I think it was important to show, 'No, this can happen in your own home.' And how do we move forward collectively while addressing the racism that is being perpetuated," he said.

By extension, I wonder if Kaepernick regrets that his birth mother is a white woman?

"It was navigating the difficulties of family, community, school, and major life decisions. Like, while I am biracial, I identify as a young black man," he told NPR. "I was trying to navigate that while having a white family and being in a predominantly white community, and trying to find ways to make sure that my identity and blackness wasn't stripped from me along that journey."

It's one thing to disrespect the American flag, it's another to disrespect your mother.

Imagine the hubris it takes for a spoiled brat like Kaepernick to impugn the integrity of a man and woman who opened their home to this kid. They gave him everything he could have imagined in life. They gave him a home, an identity.

They even stood by their adopted son when he took a knee and disrespected our nation.

And Kaepernick repays their kindness and loyalty by smearing them as racists.

As we learned in Sunday school, Jesus loves all the children of the world – red, yellow, black and white. – all are precious in His sight. Even ungrateful and obstinate children — like Colin Kaepernick.

Does he need some spotlight time again? We've been around the block with this. He needs to just be quiet and fade into the background.
