Christian Trump supporters "bent over and became political whores" for the former president, according to a Southern Baptist leader.

Kevin Smith, a former state convention executive and SBC Elite, made the comments during the SBC annual meeting in Anaheim, California.

"I think some Southern Baptists lost their minds when a black man was elected president," Smith, the teaching pastor at Family Church in Palm Beach, said in part.

"And I think some Southern Baptists just bent over and became political whores with this whole Trump stuff," he added.

Smith seemed to refer to backlash to his comments on Twitter Monday morning.

"I don't know about hit dogs, but it's strange that some guys always get their panties-in-a-wad whenever race is discussed – even if it's a discussion among friends, of which they weren't involved," he said.
