We waffle between bugging in and bugging out. We're on an acre, and have systems set up (like a garden). If we bug out, we'll be on your doorstep. ( j/k) We often discuss "at what point do we bug out?" I mean, obviously we bug out if there's a fire or life-threatening disaster. Having a plan, we'll have most valuables at hand (like docs, passports, a change of clothing, money, etc.). Having no plan means quite a scramble.

We would too. But we would be way too far from church and friends. However, we do have a cabin in the woods - but that has it's own set of problems - like no power, no water.

That's our entire area and probably 90% of the real Michigan, upper and lower. I have a friend that is bug out crazy. Makes me wonder just where we would go by the time it gets bad up here.

Sort off topic but..
There's a church in Sacramento, CA. that moved up to northern Idaho a few years ago to live off the grid. They think they're going to avoid the great tribulation ( so they say). Their kids went to the same Christian school as my sister's kids. They were an odd bunch. Very distant and fearful of everyone.

That kind of stuff (historically) usually doesn't end well.

Yea, I got cult vibes from them. I had to stop by the school one time (I forgot why) and noticed the strange attitudes, unfriendliness from them. They looked away when you walked passed them.

Have you looked at solar generators? They have all sorts and all sizes, I've considered a smaller one just for maybe cell phone charging and lights.

My question in the bug out conversation has always been "what are you running from and how long do you need to stay out there". Very vague questions but what kind of scenario is flee-worthy? If you can answer that, you can have a better handle on the second part.
