Salvation Army Tells Staff to Repent for Racism, Whiteness

Some long-time donors of The Salvation Army are withdrawing support due to a woke initiative within the church and charitable organization, Newsweek reported.

A program entitled "Let's Talk About Racism" outlines the 156-year-old Christian church's alleged racial collusion and offers ways to fight racism by incorporating critical race theory, Newsweek said Wednesday.

Christian apologist and radio talk show host Greg Koukl recently wrote a letter to The Salvation Army informing them that he was terminating his monthly donations due to the initiative by The Salvation Army's International Social Justice Commission.

"There is a massive number of academics ... who have raised the alarm against the aggressive indoctrination and, frankly, bullying of CRT — not to mention the racial essentialism inherent in the view, the false witness it bears against virtuous people, and the general destruction it continues to wreak on race relations in this country," Koukl wrote on Facebook. "CRT has set us back 50 years."

Newsweek said other Salvation Army donors were questioning The Salvation Army's entree into woke territory with some joining Koukl in stopping financial their support.

"I have been a faithful supporter of The Salvation Army for many years. My parents were supporters when they were alive, and they passed that down to me and my siblings. It was always a joy to see the red kettles around the holidays, as well as to hear of the efforts of TSA in helping the poor and those affected by disasters," Richard N. Nakano wrote in an email to author and Salvation Army critic Kenny Xu, Newsweek reported.

"Now I have noticed TSA has taken a turn to the far left politically, championing and virtue signaling such 'woke' policies as LGBTQ 'rights' and CRT. I am very disappointed the TSA has turned away from its Christ-centered mission, and is now embracing such un-Christian, world-centered views."

Americans last year gave more charitable donations to the United Way Worldwide and The Salvation Army than to any other nonprofit focusing on direct aid, The Associated Press reported. The Salvation Army raised $1.8 billion in 2020, an increase of 31% from the previous year. Continue reading at Newsmax.

Don't think I knew about that one. So what's going on, change in management?

Salvation Army withdraws guide that asks white supporters to apologize for their race | Just The News

The group has withdrawn the controversial guide amid backlash from donors

The Salvation Army has withdrawn its controversial "Let's Talk About ... Racism" guide following criticism and donor backlash over the text that asked white supporters of the charity group to deliver "sincere" apologies for their race and the past sins of the Church.

As a result of some of the guide's more extreme positions becoming public, donors and supporters across the country have been rescinding their support of the organization.

In a statement titled "The Salvation Army's Response to False Claims on the Topic of Racism," the 156-year-old organization denies that the purpose of the guide or subsequent discussions revolving around the guide were meant to tell anyone "how to think." However, the group has also opted to withdraw the guide for "appropriate review."

The group is perhaps best known for collection coins and paper money in red kettles outside of stores during the Christmas holiday season with a member rings a bell.

The statement, in part, also reads: "The Salvation Army occasionally publishes internal study guides on various complex topics to help foster positive conversations and grace-filled reflection among Salvationists. By openly discussing these issues, we always hope to encourage the development of a more thoughtful organization that is better positioned to support those in need. But no one is being told how to think. Period."

A few paragraphs later, it continues, "We have done our best to provide accurate information, but unfortunately, some have chosen to ignore those efforts. At the same time, International Headquarters realized that certain aspects of the guide may need to be clarified.

"Consequently, for both reasons, the International Social Justice Commission has now withdrawn the guide for appropriate review."

This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
    (Ephesians 4:17-18)

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...
    (Psalm 1)

Well of course they did. I saw the comments and the outrage from people who donate. They all said they will never give any money again.

Too late. Damage has been done and it's too obvious why they are suddenly backpedaling.

You don't accidentally support a program like critical race theory. They've let the cat out of the bag for who they are. I've supported them over the years because I admired what they did, and thought they were a conservative Bible group. Turns out they are something else. What's sad is that they don't even have the guts to defend what they've become. If it's right, then stick with it. Why hide it? If thats your Gospel, then run with it. What's more pathetic, your new ungodly ideals, or scattering like roaches when the lights come on?
Probably the majority of people in the pews have no idea how woke the leadership is.

    Bingo.

The answer is it's about the almighty dollar. They're publicly woke until it starts messing with their money. Get woke, go broke applies here.
