I have come to the conclusion that if we actively start making disciples on purpose then the fence riders will jump on one side or the other. There is a huge portion of "the church" that don't want to heal the sick, cast out demons and preach the kingdom of God. They just want to come sing a couple of songs, listen to a short message and then get on with their day/week/month/life.

    JMHO of course.

Those are the ones that keep me busy in real life. Some churches are full of them. They are the ones that if they bought tickets to hear me preach would be the ones throwing stuff at me.

Ok, I have another category: the Facebook Christian. They post all manners of vulgar memes and articles yet will attend church and say they are “sending up prayers and vibes” at a prayer request.

The UPS guy just dropped off the book.

Here is a quote, “There is a perception amongst Cultural Christians that the gospel is for more extreme, perhaps ‘born-again’ people.”

-Just last week I was labeled an extreme pastor with people that are like me. Imagine that.

I don't even understand "unsaved Christian"

    it's an oxymoron.

One who is a Christian is, by definition, saved.

If one is unsaved they are, by definition, not Christian.

Dont overthink it. The author is proverbially provoking your thinking. Of course it’s an oxymoron.

I've experienced this as a small group leader where people have "jumped ship". They think they are "in" but when working with them, their resistance to discipleship is exposed and they either work through it or leave.

You are describing much of the church. And you should see some of the Google review of our church! It's a riot. One of my favorite "It's an hour in and the pastor hasn't even started to preach yet." Our worship goes as long as the Spirit dictates. I tell people who come to our church to expect a 3-4 hour time commitment, to bring a bottle of water and even a snack if they desire. If they have children they especially need to bring a snack and quiet toys.

That's the church I long for ....... I'm so tired of 3 songs, announcement, offering, 3 more songs and a sermon that the pastor starts to apologize if it goes over 20 min.

I just came out of that. The hunger is real. Pastors starve the hungry ones and give milk and happy thoughts to the unconverted. People pray the pastor would get revival but when faced with breaking out of the norm he doesnt want the angry, agitated board members. Pastors pray for his people to get revival but afraid of what might happen. That is a real struggle. Meanwhile, the Holy Spirit stands at the door and knocks.

Most churches have this as their theme for standing on guard for holiness: “Let all things be done decently and in order” (1Cor14:40)

They ignore the “order” of this verse. How can you know what is decent or in order when you arent paying attention to Let All Things Be Done?! Did you wait on God to see if you did all He wanted? Do any wait on a release from God to leave but rather they want to exit in chronos time rather than kairos time? I say, if you cant “let all things be done” how can you sit in judgement of what God thinks is decent and in order?

Steve Hill and John Kilpatrick during the Brownsville revival said the church has been out of order for too long and needs some God-ly disorder.
