How did King Saul die?
As I was reading this morning I found something interesting. Probably because in the new bible I am reading the two accounts are side by side.
In 1 Samuel chapter 31 it says that Saul fell on his sword (committed suicide).
In 2 Samuel chapter 1 it says that an Amalekite killed him, and then David had him executed for killing the Lord's anointed.
1 Chronicles chapter 10 agrees with 1 Samuel.
What think thee?

The Amalekite lied thinking he would actually get a reward for killing Saul....
II Samuel 4:10
When one told me, saying, Behold, Saul is dead,
thinking to have brought good tidings, I took hold of him, and slew him in Ziklag, who
thought that I would have given him a reward for his tidings:
How Did King Saul Die? Two Accounts Reconciled
This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity (futility) of their mind, having the understanding darkened...
(Ephesians 4:17-18)
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly...

I read that stuff just last week, I always took it he attempt to end his life, but he failed to hit the target. Then instead of helping him, Amalekite took him out. (My thoughts, he figured he be honored for the slay. King David was not impressed. I think David would have put Saul in prison though.) But King David honored Saul and his family. Amalekite was took out and dishonored and made an example of, and David let the Nation of Israel know this how we do it. The Books of Samuel are the Rock. 2 of my Fav's.

There is a distinct difference. God Chose and anointed Saul. THAT is why David honored him. He trusted God to determine his removal time and method. In our nation we very well may not have a 'God chosen' legal president. The story that best fits our situation is Absalom.

Thx, Yup,,, I knew that, I know I did not bring that out in my post. Sorry about that. The Books of Samuel are the Rock. 2 of my Fav's. Our situation, I'm just trusting the Lord. But the Prophets warned Israel and they got destroyed. I think we are getting close for the fly, going up.
