We are having temps near 40deg, rain and this weekend maybe a dusting of snow on our patches of bare lawn. I'm enjoying this mild winter but it's putting a big hurt on our ski resorts and local plowing economy.

Best part? Lake levels on the big lakes are receeding.

In the far western U.P., reports are that they only have about 6 inches of snow on the ground. My mom says this is very unusual. They usually have snow every day.

It's been a mild one. This week we return to upper 20's. Looking at long range forecasts for temps it looks like we return to low 30's and into early March. This is doing a slow squeeze on our local economy. Plow guys, ski resort employees, what's left of our town's restaurants, snowmobiling motels, all are hurting.

I love going to estate sales and over the summer I picked up a really nice pair of snowshoes that I thought would sell quickly once the cold weather hit. Finally sold them to someone local who goes up to the U P a lot.

Guess I better run to Kroger for "Milk & Bread" - They're predicting a couple of inches of snow (down here in Virginia) NEXT Thursday...
