It can't go on more than 2 months at most. By Inauguration Day next January, Trump's term will end one way or another (unless one of the following happens: A lot of Biden electors defect to Trump, or some blue state flips red, or the House steps in and votes Trump.)
By December 14, if the Electoral College hasn't given 270 to Biden, then the House steps in and the Republicans probably prevail 26 state delegations to 24.
I don't think there will even be much civil unrest at all. Most Trump voters are - despite typing up an angry storm behind their keyboards - pretty placid and docile.
