Supreme Court Rules Nearly Half of Oklahoma Is Indian Reservation

When I saw this, I thought it must be a joke, but it's not. Anyone here affected by this?

Just wondering: For non-native persons living on this land, are they now subject to deportation?

It has to do with jurisdiction for certain crimes, reporting has been a bit murky as to what crimes are covered. I'm guessing it has something to do with peyote or marijuana (ceremonial use). But no, half of Oklahoma has not seceded.

Bad guess, apparently rape is OK now...

The case concerned an appeal from Jimcy McGirt, a Native American, who claimed his state rape conviction from 1997 should be overturned because Oklahoma lacked jurisdiction. Congress, his lawyer Ian Gershengorn said, never properly terminated the reservation.

I don't think I've heard about this case before today. Local news coverage is mostly shootings and car chases.
