Would that be anything like choosing Noah and his family without the rest of humanity to be saved from the flood?

Only if we don't forget three important things. First that God, up to a certain point, did attempt to reach out to all men:
And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years. (Genesis 6:3)
Or, as Darby's translation renders it, "And Jehovah said, My Spirit shall not always plead with Man." God attempted to reach all men during the time of Noah. Noah was the only one who responded to God.
It is also important to remember that Noah was "a preacher of righteousness" (2 Peter 2:5). That would have to mean that he warned the people but they would not listen.
The last thing is that God "repented" or "regretted having ever made man in the first place (Gen. 6:6-7). It is impossible to get a "predestination" or "election" to salvation out of the story of Noah if God had regretted man's creation. If God created man with the intent of saving some and damning others (or "bypassing others as some Calvinists would say) then it would be a contradiction to say that He regretted creating mankind as a whole, or even a part.
Amen!
Hebrews 11:6-7
(6) But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.
(7) By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
We also have :
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
19 by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison,
20 who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water.
Disobedient to what ? The message of righteousness preached by Noah while "Divine longsuffering waited while the ark was being prepared". The ark was enormous and had to take years to decades to build at that time so Noah had a lot of time to preach to people while they were marvelling at the sight of the ark being built.
