I think if I walked into a "place" like that, I would have to just walk out. Not many of us older seasoned saints could handle that. LOL

From a local web site:
During the gathering, we'll have live music and sing.
It's not as strange as it sounds – we've got a band and it's more like a concert than a religious ceremony.
I like this a lot better:
Churchgoer Takes A Knee In Protest As Newfangled Chorus Added To Classic Hymn
HOUMA, LA—Local churchgoer Herb Patterson took a knee in protest Sunday morning as the worship band added a chorus into classic hymn "Before the Throne of God Above."

I'm watching some teaching on Church History. One of the ideas from the East/West time and Middle ages to keep people going to church was "give them what they want".
Same old same old. Nothing new under the sun, as Solomon said.

You are funny. I am old line Pentecostal (Church of God). Possibly you got me mixed up with someone else.
I don't imagine you stayed around very long either.

I saw a video here lately of old time pentecostals in their 70s-80s jumping around in circles and shouting and stuff like that. I could argue (I'm not convinced of it) that it's all show and has little to do with spirituality or godliness and that I don't like it that much. Maybe I would be right, maybe not. We are often too quick to judge based on appearances. And too quick to lump everything that looks similar into one category.

Back in the late '60's to the early '70's, I visited a few indy pente churches with friends and saw a lot of that. Some may have been habitual and some real. The AG I attended was more reserved. In 1970, there was a revival that went on for 14 weeks at OKC's Faith Tabernacle AG. There was a genuine move of the Holy Spirit and there was much shouting, running, shaking and a bit of the pentecostal shuffle. I think that was how people responded to the Holy Spirit. Just like we have today some is real and some is just flesh.
