Apparently he had quite a criminal history also:

Why Derek Chauvin May Get Off His Murder Charge

These six facts are as follows:

George Floyd was experiencing cardiopulmonary and psychological distress minutes before he was placed on the ground, let alone had a knee to his neck. The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) allows the use of neck restraint on suspects who actively resist arrest, and George Floyd actively resisted arrest on two occasions, including immediately prior to neck restraint being used.

The officers were recorded on their body cams assessing George Floyd as suffering from "excited delirium syndrome" (ExDS), a condition which the MPD considers an extreme threat to both the officers and the suspect.

A white paper used by the MPD acknowledges that ExDS suspects may die irrespective of force involved. The officers' response to this situation was in line with MPD guidelines for ExDS.

Restraining the suspect on his or her abdomen (prone restraint) is a common tactic in ExDS situations, and the white paper used by the MPD instructs the officers to control the suspect until paramedics arrive.

Floyd's autopsy revealed a potentially lethal concoction of drugs — not just a potentially lethal dose of fentanyl, but also methamphetamine. Together with his history of drug abuse and two serious heart conditions, Floyd's condition was exceptionally and unusually fragile.

Chauvin's neck restraint is unlikely to have exerted a dangerous amount of force to Floyd's neck. Floyd is shown on video able to lift his head and neck, and a robust study on double-knee restraints showed a median force exertion of approximately approximately 105lbs.

No matter what his criminal background was, George Floyd didn't deserve to die at the hands of a cop. The problem is, the evidence doesn't seem to be supporting the case against him. When I first saw the video I was baffled. I had never seen the knee on the neck technique. Still, if he couldn't breathe how was he able to speak? Then I saw Ben Shapiro's video and decided that the cops must be guilty. But the cops weren't arrested. Two days went by. Three days went by. Still no arrests. I wondered what the holdup was, and concluded that there must be a problem with the evidence. Maybe the medical examiner's report didn't support the prevailing view that cops were directly responsible. Sure enough, on day 4 the main cop was arrested for third degree murder, and the medical examiner's report was released saying that "Decedent experienced a cardiopulmonary arrest while being restrained by law enforcement officer(s)," It said that Floyd suffered from heart disease and hypertension, and listed fentanyl intoxication and recent methamphetamine use. It has since been revealed that neck restraint is an accepted tactic in the Minneapolis PD. So based on what little information we have to go on, it looks like this is going to be a hard case to win. Probably the best they'll get is a manslaughter conviction.

100% agree with that. I did post his autopsy results as a marker for the cause of death, not an opinion on his life/lifestyle.

That's one of the things I don't understand. If this really was something they were trained to do to help a person with excited delirium then why wasn't that mentioned immediately in an official statement? Why let everyone believe that this was just another rogue cop who enjoyed brutalizing people? Not saying it would have stopped all the rioting but it may have helped quell a lot of it.

I think the rioting was more instigated by white anarchists. There are a lot of videos and images popping up showing white women torching stuff, also a few videos with whites directing the mayhem. The same thing happened in Ferguson with those riots, they never took the cop to trial but Antifa was on the scene doing what they do.

There was a similar incident up here. There was a scheduled protest in a small town where a guy is arrested with a backpack full of bomb making components, flammables, rocks for throwing at vehicles etc. We have no shortage of whackjobs.
