    Benefits of the shutdown

There are here several comments about the negative aspects of the shutdown
so I am wondering if anybody here is getting positive side-affects?

I am a missionary in Albania.
It hurts a lot to stop all ministry. My team is caring for families with a handicapped child and with poor families.

The good sides now are having more time to pray and make plans for the future.
I am also doing 2 online classes that OM is offering
I have a lot of time to reach out to people who feel lonely, scared, worried
I have more time to get in touch with other missionaries
I finally have plenty of time to read
I am since a few days sewing for the nursing home where my youngest daughters work ( all people with dementia)
I have time for longer walks, of course alone

Yes, it is hard to stay alone, but in all I know that Jesus is with me and that he is changing things to be a blessing to me

I would love to hear how you are experiencing the love of God in this time

Heidi, I'm usually a homebody anyway, so I'm really enjoying staying home. I write, I read, do chores around the house, and actually relax more than when I have places to go. This forced time at home has been very good for me. I almost wish it didn't have to end.

Generally speaking it is a good time for all believers to contemplate and get their priorities right

It seems to me that many run around 'serving' God and they are in a doing mode thinking that it pleases God instead of learning to walk with God
I think of the large church buildings all empty and maybe God is saying I don't care as much about buildings as you do

After I posted the above I left this forum and was doing some general online browsing and out of the blue this strong thought came to mind which I believe was the Holy
Spirit. It cut right across my thinking

The thought was ....'What about my people who were isolated because they had to go to prison for their faith. They learnt to overcome and trust me'.

I realised what we are going through is nothing compared to what the church has gone through in times past and many are going through now and others will go through in the future.

    This scripture came to mind
Hebrews 13:3 - Remember the prisoners as if chained with them—those who are mistreated—since you yourselves are in the body also.

    Some food for thought

    Thank you, Cardinal,
this is a good thought you are adding. Yes, let us remember those who are "shut down" for their faith.
