    Lightbulb Speaking of Dishwashers...

Lista's thread on "Cleaning" made me wonder if I'm the only one who has a Dishwasher, but doesn't use it?

I've always felt that by the time I scrape, rinse and stack the dishwasher, I could do the dishes by hand just as quickly - And - I think it uses less water and energy to hand-wash them - Am I right?

Also, since it's just the two of us, unless we had a dinner party that called for several platters, serving dishes, etc, I don't see the need to use it either.

In addition, I can't stand the thought of dirty dishes sitting in the washer for several days (in order to make a full load)...

...My OCD would drive me batty until they were cleaned and put away.

Soooooo, I wash our dishes by hand, put them in the dishwasher to air dry, and then put them away the next day.

    What say you?

I don't have one and even when I did I didn't use it...it made no sense to use all that water for the handful of dishes we use each day...

We use ours daily. By evening we generally have a load. I will also wash a small load. I rinse the dishes but no longer try to get all the gunk off. I have been experimenting with putting them in with less to no rinsing and they come out clean.

My mom would not use hers, thus it got to where it didn't work properly when she had a crowd. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.

I only use mine if we have company. Otherwise we just don't dirty that many dishes.

    Ye olde paper plates!

Hopefully they are recycled paper plates... we wouldn't want the liberals to get offended.

Same here, its pretty rare I use mine too. Matter of fact there have been times I've used it for extra storage space. :)

We use our DW but we rinse the dishes thoroughly and then run it on a light wash about once a week or whenever it's full. I run an extra rinse with vinegar in it because of our hard water and I don't like the idea of those rinse agent chemicals on my dishes... We do pots and pans by hand.

    I HATE doing dishes.
