One question to always ask is which Towers do they use...Verizon or AT&T.
Having said that our office, small nonprofit, eliminated the land line and internet and purchased a phone and service from Spectrum. The phone hot spot has served us well. I am sure if you had a lot of devices utilizing that one hot spot how well it would work...so far I have used up to 3 and I do not know who Spectrum uses...Edited...just researched and Spectrum uses Verizon towers.
I was recently told that Straight Talk has started using Verizon exclusively as well...the tower will determine quality and in some areas AT&T is better....that has not been the case for us though.
Cricket uses AT & T....it is best in side a city...for if you are more rural Verizon is best.
My neighbor had really poor service with her cricket service. We are very rural

I have a mobile hotspot. It is off-brand and it can use a SIM from any carrier. I use it when I travel and I buy a local SIM in various countries. My prepaid AT&T data SIM works anywhere in the US.
