Let me be clear...I do NOT embrace any version of baptism 'In Jesus Name' as necessary for salvation.
I will say that when we are born again the Spirit of God is present within and yielding to the point of surrender, while not necessary for salvation, is the next step God intended for all His children.
However my pastor does not push either of these...
And yet the word NAME is singular....so I think Oneness and Trinitarians talk over each other.
One could actually interpret that EASILY and more accurately as...in the Name (Jehovah-singular) the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
I am beginning to believe the reason for the split was an unwillingness for both to bridge the gap of communication...
You are probably right and the church should do better communicating but what happens when there is a strong disagreement in doctrine.
There is enough early church writings that oneness was rejected as unscriptural. People also need to be accountable they don't introduce wrong beliefs.
Oneness isn't a salvation issue and there are many wonderful believers but the doctrine is still wrong
Why? They do not deny the three manifestations or the ONE God....they simply reject the idea that there are 3 PERSONS....even the Answer man said Holy Spirit is Jehovah, Jesus is Jehovah, the Father is Jehovah...
A question was asked...when we 'hear' who are we hearing? Are we really hearing from varying deities or ONE Spirit...Does the Father speak and then Jesus and then the Spirit?
If I say Jesus told me...and you say it was the Holy Spirit we are both right....
The insistence of one is one Jehovah who manifests Himself as the creator Father, the intercessor, and the counselor...cannot really be heresy if in fact trinitarians are saying essentially the same thing...three that are one that cannot be understood or explained...
