I don't know about the rest of the country, but in Oklahoma and Texas the Southern Baptists are still staunchly in the conservative camp theologically. I grew up Southern Baptist and I still interact with them a bit. It's going to be awhile before you'll see them apostatize on the deity of Christ and sexual orientation.

I don't know about the SBC in general, but around a year ago, a report came out that hundreds have accused independent Baptists pastors of abuse.
Much of this abuse is centered around sexual sin, which includes the molestation of minors.

If these accusations are true this is tragic, but this isn't a doctrinal matter. Nobody that I know of is promoting the acceptance of rape, kidnapping, or sexual assault.

Our daughter spent grades k through 10 in an IFB school. There was sexual misconduct by several of the leaders. The "man a gawd" ruled firmly there. He was a product of First Baptist, Hammond, Indiana which had many such problems. As some of the leadership moved on from OKC, their issues went with them. Sadly, there were many sincere folks in that church who were deceived.
I in no way paint all IFB's with this same brush. We just happened to have some of the corruption here and it was very real.
