Update on the Todd Bentley Investigation, October 25, 2019 - MIchael Brown

Since our last update on September 18, there have been some important developments.

First, our investigator is close to wrapping up his work, having looked into scores of allegations, conducted more than two dozen interviews, and, on one occasion, traveled out of state for a face to face meeting. (To remind you, our investigator has more than 20 years of police experience.)

This has been a painstaking process for many reasons, and everything has been conducted in the fear of the Lord and complete neutrality.

Once the material has been collated and organized, it will be turned over to our five-member panel, along with all supporting evidence. The names of the panel, consisting of four men and one woman, all of them with nationally recognized ministries, will be released in conjunction with the issuing of their findings.

Second, Todd Bentley has announced in a public statement that he will no longer be cooperating with our investigation, claiming that it has become "difficult to trust the process as valid, uncompromised, and biblical."

This is an extremely unfortunate decision, since the panel has been tasked with examining whether Todd has been falsely accused or whether there is validity to the charges that have been brought against him. Our goal, before God, is to bring the truth to light and to call for accountability, because of which the process, from beginning to end, has been nothing but "valid, uncompromised, and biblical."

Todd's withdrawal, however, does not hinder our work at all, since the panel will evaluate the relevant evidence, come to its conclusions, and present them to the Body of Christ. Those who respect our work, whatever the conclusions might be, will act accordingly, and it is our hope and prayer that the work of this panel will help establish a standard of righteousness that others might follow as well.

While the panel has no legal authority over Todd, it does have spiritual standing before the Lord and His Church.

Finally, we appreciate your prayers during this difficult season for all involved, and we encourage you to ignore reckless and even downright malicious posts from some leaders who have attacked this biblically-based process as a "witch trial" (and worse).

Statements like this are terribly irresponsible, based on either complete ignorance or willful deceit, and they bring dishonor to the Lord and confusion to His people.

May we all conduct ourselves with honor and integrity before our Father, and again, we solicit your prayers for the important work the panel will be undertaking in the days ahead.

May the name of Jesus be exalted, and may His people be strengthened, edified, and refreshed.

Dr. Michael Brown, on behalf of the panel

From that I get the idea that Todd Bentley hopes to continue ministering among those who choose to believe him over every accuser and that he knows that that is his best shot at it. Maybe he hopes that friends and family will believe him, sometimes that is what it is about.

The financial rewards and adulation of people is more important than integrity before God

Does he really need more money ? He could simply be addicted to "Superman" ministry.

    Lust is never satisfied.

Anyway, these things usually go along the lines of "a religious spirit has attacked the Man of God", the perp continues with his fan club/following.

That's a good reason for not pursuing that lifestyle. Unless one has unlimited assets.

He might even make himself some kind of martyr. One of the first well known doping cases, the sprinter Ben Johnson, became a martyr in the eyes of some of his fans. I remember one of his fans exclaiming "I know in my spirit that he's innocent" on television. The chance of that was zero.
