Sitting comfortably with the .257 Weatherby Mag. This is the shortest distance I've hunted with it.

Shot this doe at a distance close enough to poke it with a stick. Typically I would let it pass but it stayed in concealment sniffing my scent but still not too alarmed. It knew I was there and looking right at me yet all it saw was my raised rifle aiming at the kill zone. She had a buck following her and that's what I wanted to shoot. No go. She was getting antsy and so close (20 feet) I took the shot.
So....while I was some 75yds away from the scene in front of my portable blind, cleaning and dragging the doe back to the area I noticed something funny strange. In the 20 minutes of recovering the doe, her buck was attacking the front of my blind. It really made a mess out of that front opening. Hindsight is 20/20, if I knew better I'd sit tight and shoot the buck with it.

Look, as it were, through a telescope that will bring it up near to you; look into hell, and hear them groan; then turn the glass upwards and look at heaven, and see the saints there, in their white robes, with their harps in their hands, and hear them sing the song of redeeming love; and ask yourself--Is it possible, that I should prevail with God to elevate the sinner there? Do this, and if you are not a wicked man, and a stranger to God, you will soon have as much of the spirit of prayer as your body can sustain. -Charles Finney 'The Spirit of Prayer' from 'Lectures On Revivals of Religion'
