Thread: Before and after weight loss...

  1. #111
I loose a lot of weight during tax season because I no longer feel hunger - I get busy and forget to eat - then I get too thin and my husband starts fussing so I increase my intake a little. I feel my best if I keep my weight between 145 and 155 - and it is a struggle. I have to "diet" when I am eating too much junk. My problem right now is I have lost so much weight I have little muscle - when my husband goes to give me my B-12 shot - he has a hard time finding a place to inject it...I belong to a health club and do I go? NOooo....I need to start building my muscles back up.

I also can't eat a lot at one sitting - so I "snack" all day - as long as I have good snacks, I do well - but if not - potato chips here I come...my weakness. I can't eat sweets or many sweets because I have dumping syndrom and get sick as a dog. My doctor said he prays that over every gastric bypass he does so we stay away from sugar....But I do well and I know this surgery saved my life.

If you look at statistics - once someone gets more than a 100 pounds overweight they have only a 2% chance of getting the weight off and another 2% chance of keeping it off. I believe in the bodies set weight theory - I lived it. Every time I lost weight - the body went right back up to the set weight and then put on another 5-10 pounds just to make sure it never starves again. It has taken me 10 years to get the set weight changed...right after the surgery and I started eating - my body tried to get back up to over 200 pounds - I had to live on protein and follow the gastric bypass rules to keep it off. Now I only have to do that and get real strict if I go over 155 pounds....if you let your weight creep up even 5 pounds each year - in 5 years your 25 pounds higher...I don't give my body that luxury any more.

You should make sure you eat more protein.

Yes - I do protein (Unjury) in my coffee and protein during the day. Protein, iron, and calcium are the items, because I only have a third of my ilium, is what is malabsorbed - that and medications - I have a heck of a time with antibiotics...they know I need twice the dose because of the mal absorption issue...

One thing about the Unjury - it is medical grade protein - my brother did the Unjury protein right after his by pass and you can not see the scar - the doctors could not believe how well he healed...Unjury is great for people who go through surgeries. I have my sister on it right now and my niece has used it for her hysterectomy and she has almost no scar.

One especially needs extra protein when eating less. So I suggest you eat at least 50 grams of protein powder every day during tax season to avoid losing muscle instead of fat.

Where can you find a good long list of things to eat that are considered "low carb"?
Google "Wheat Belly Detox"...That's the one I'm on and it's working well for me. There's a support group on Facebook as well.

Also check out the 'Lay Aside the Weight' thread to get support and great recipe ideas. :)
