Yeah, they got hit pretty hard last winter...you've got to be a really hardy yankee to live in Buffalo in the winter. ;)

We may be crazy but our bugs don't get as big. And we get beautiful snow. We can still get around if we get an inch of the stuff, unlike the south where everything shuts down for days.

I'd like to move to the Pacific Northwest - Seattle/Portland - no snow, and small bugs

Now the only issue is clearing the snow. I'm bugging DH for a tractor with a blade for pushing snow on the front. I've been snowblowing our long driveway for two years now. It seems it only dumps hug amounts of snow when he travels. Thankfully our snob lower is self propelled.
The good news is that DH has sold his zero turn mower, so I'm one step closer to getting a new tractor with the toys I want.

I saw a tv program from Alaska where they claimed that their state bird should have been a mosquito. The situation in Northern Norway is a bit similar. Annoying bugs aren't exclusively an Australian or Southern US phenomenon. Mosquitos are known to have killed animals in Northern Norway.
