    Amazon Banned Books

Well, it's happened. Two of the books I worked on as an editor have been banned by Amazon. One was a book I acquired and edited. The other I championed a revised edition of an existing book and worked with the author to edit it. I did four more books with that author and I expect they will eventually be banned. Yes, the books were on homosexuality.

The revised book has an interesting story about it. I was at a conference of men and women who had come out of homosexuality and was chatting with a guy who had left his wife and kids several years earlier for the gay life. He had been living with a priest. Finally tired of the gay life, he wandered into a bookstore and bought the book I had helped the author revise and it turned his life around. He didn't know my connection with the book. That was probably the best blessing I ever had in my years as an editor.

Anyhoo, this is just the beginning. More banning to come, I'm sure. And the worst part is that few publishers--even Christian publishers--are going to be anxious to publish books they don't think Amazon will carry.

Pray for Amazon to change their mind.

    Unhappy

It can be discouraging, but the good news is that this is temporary. Things are going to turn around in favor of God's people. It always looks bleak before the victory. And we have the victory in Christ, even our faith. It will be well. I heard it from the prophet of God and my spirit bears witness to the prophecy. I am very excited, and I will add Amazon to our prayer focus at our next prayer meeting.
When your praise match your prayers, the answer will come.

That's about the same as when a Christian baker refuses to bake a cake for a gay customer due to the content involved. Just that Amazon has a monopoly like position whereas it would be easy to find an other baker who would bake a gay celebrating cake and make no fuss about it. The hypocrisy is showing, the equal rendering of services isn't what this is about.

That is disturbing, especially knowing (from your compassion-filled posts on this forum) that
you would never associate yourself with a book that addressed the topic in a hateful manner.

Did they give you a reason for the banning?

Well, they apparently received complaints--possibly a petition--stating that Christian ministries to gays are harmful, not helpful. They call it "conversion therapy" and say that it's just quackery. Plus, of course, that gays do not need to change their ways because homosexuality is not sinful.

Yes, Amazon has been at that for some time.

July 8, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – After Amazon knuckled under pressure from LGBT activists to ban books offering help to those dealing with unwanted same-sex attraction, former gays launched a petition demanding the online retailer reverse its decision.

Amazon recently removed several books in response to a Change.org petition that mislabeled all materials dealing with leaving the practice of active homosexuality as destructive “conversion therapy.”

Those who have left homosexuality and now live chaste single lives or who have gone on to marry and form a family with a member of the opposite sex see a different motive behind Amazon’s action. It is an attempt to silence all the voices of those who have found new life and freedom not through “conversion therapy,” but through conversion to Jesus Christ, a distinction that seems lost on LGBT activists.

You are welcome Bookman to promote your books here. Perhaps we should start a new section for banned books.

While prayer is indeed a good course of action we must remember that Amazon is only a monopoly in peoples minds, just like Facebook, Google and the others , freedom from digital tyranny is only one click away. You are free to promote and sell in other venues.

Several years ago I saw a window display in a secular bookstore celebrating banned books. They had quite a few books in the display...but guess which banned book wasn't there? The most commonly banned book of all: the Bible
