Strongest earthquake in decades hits Southern California, measuring 6.4 magnitude

-A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Southern California on Thursday, the largest temblor to hit the region in two decades.

The 10:33 a.m. quake was centered in the Searles Valley, a remote area of Kern County about 100 miles north of Los Angeles, and was felt as far away as Long Beach and Las Vegas.

There were no immediate reports of fatalities, though authorities in the city of Ridgecrest were responding to dozens of emergency calls.

The Kern County Fire Department was responding to "nearly 2 dozen incidents ranging from medical assistance to structure fires in and around the city of Ridgecrest," according to the department's Twitter account...

    nope.. another E coupon!

We were on the road, stopped at a light so we could feel the latest one.. it rocked the car quite a while too.

And, now, the after shocks are coming close.. we've had quite a few and expect more.

The epicenter is north of us.

see, here's the thing.. these thing come and go and have since I was a kid.

I've had a few, I can remember one, when I was a girl, woke me because my bed was bouncing around the room. We go. "oh.. there you go!"
My mom used to be able to tell before they hit.. it was eerie.

BUT, unless it knocked down houses etc (like Northridge) we just go.. eh.. on to school/work/making dinner/etc

    this says it:

We’ve been on vacation on Vancouver island and there have been some quakes off the BC coast, too. I really haven’t watched any news and we didn’t feel anything where we were.
