I personally don't see how years use of a mind altering 'drug' can't cause some kind of mental problems. I know a few people that have smoked for many years and they are kind of 'dull' mentally. As much as people would like to think it's not harmful, I can't see it. Whether it should be legal or not is another matter. I'm not speaking to that. But there's no way you can do something like that for years and it not have an effect. You can drink alcohol in moderation and not be drunk. You can't smoke weed without it altering your mind. I used to do it. I know what it's like. I can't image what my mind would be like if I had done it all these years. And even if it isn't addictive physically, someone can be seriously psychologically and mentally addicted to it.

I agree that mind altering substances will eventually mess with the mind.

I wouldn't say that pot causes schizophrenia, but when someone is already schizophrenic and smokes pot it makes it worse. I have witnessed it first hand.

Yes, and that is a difference with a distinction. People who are already afflicted with schizophrenia get triggered versus "causes schizophrenia". I hate agenda science and lies that mislead under the banner of officialdom, medical or otherwise.
