I hope I'm not growing cold. I make it a point to always be polite, and I'm trying hard to quit reacting to those who aren't.

Our identity is in Christ, a reason to be joyful. The thing with media today is that they are hell bent on causing division via identity politics, labeling everyone and keeping each of us at odds with each other. Pick a side and fight. It's almost akin to being thrown into a fight club, it doesn't matter who you are or who the other person is, the only acceptable behavior is to just fight.

There is a clinical term for what you are perceiving out there as "everyone is so angry, grouchy, etc". it is called Cognitive Dissonance. When your attitude is at odds with your value system, when you hold to competing mind sets, you fall into a mental morass. You are told to step aside and tolerate if not embrace all manner of madness, literal madness, things like people changing their sex, all men are "bad", etc, etc. These things cause deep confusion in peoples minds and manifest in ugliness.

We however are children of the Most High God, renewed in mind and spirit, capable of love when others cave into fear and loathing.

Romans 5:17 For if, by the trespass of the one man, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive God's abundant provision of grace and of the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ!

If you are seeing the coldness, concerned of coldness of heart in you...you are not growing cold. I find that we cannot judge anything we see based on an earthly standard. We are to love with His love but also to set the Heavenly standard, especially in the darkness of this world.

I agree, he has a right to throw a punch. No dispute there. But if you think that this wouldn't be being treated differently if the races were reversed, you're being deliberately obtuse. And I'm not saying that coldly.
