    What you say.

    There are many believers who don't realize that what they say affects their life. Until I learned how to govern my mouth, and what I was saying, I was always getting myself into trouble. Throughout the first 20 years of my Christian life, it seemed I was always the recipient of sickness, lack, fear and doubt. I thought everything was all up to fate---whatever will be, will be. Well, thank God I now know I have a choice. I have a say in what happens to me. I don't have to be a victim in life.
    Today, I know what you say affects you. And I'm not talking about science of mind or positive thinking. I'm sure many of us know the verse found over in Proverbs 18:21;
    Death and life are in the power of the tongue,
    and those who love it will eat its fruit.

    I believe when the Lord said over in Matthew 12:37;
    "...By your words you will be justified,"

    and by your words you will be condemned;
    that He was letting us know that whatever happens to you is activated by the words of your mouth.
    Further more, Paul admonished us over in Ephesians 4:29 not to let any correct words come out of your mouth. The word corrupt in this sense means unedifying, useless, or of no value. Scripture is telling us not to use corrupt words because they do nothing to enhance our lives. In fact, they can eventually bring destruction.
    It took me many years to learn this. But you can just as easily choose words that are edifying, useful, and of great value to bring a blessed outcome in your life.

    The Word of God will always work for your good and it will always do you good. It will be more than enough and never leave you wanting. And it never changes. We can rest assured that the Word of God will come to pass and never steer us in the wrong. We can speak life to our life or speak death to your life. God has given us power in our tongue---in what you say---to dictate the terms of our life, and it all hinges on what you say, whether positive or negative, for the Lord said, "He will have what he says" (Mk 11:23).
    If you put God First, you have Him at Last.

    Good word Smitty

    I actually started a series of messages on "Violating Spiritual Laws" last Sunday. The words of our mouth (or "negative confession") is one of the laws we will be dealing with in this series.

    Two of my favorite scriptures to put together come from Proverbs.

    Proverbs 18:14 King James Version (KJV)
    14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
    Proverbs 18:14 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
    14 The strong spirit of a man sustains him in bodily pain or trouble, but a weak and broken spirit who can raise up or bear?

    And what wounds, 'tears', puts a breach in, 'breaks' the spirit?

    Proverbs 15:4 King James Version (KJV)
    4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.
    Proverbs 15:4 Amplified Bible, Classic Edition (AMPC)
    4 A gentle tongue [with its healing power] is a tree of life, but willful contrariness in it breaks down the spirit.
