Kim Kardashian Secures Presidential Pardon of great-grandmother sentenced to Life

Kim Kardashian 'will meet the grandmother she helped free this week' as she has emotional family reunion after her sentence was commuted by President Trump.

The great-grandmother whose life sentence was commuted by President Trump after Kim Kardashian traveled to the White House to plead her case will now meet with the reality TV star.

Kim and her team are trying to arrange a meeting with 63-year-old Alice Johnson after she was released from jail on Wednesday,TMZ reports.

Sources close to the situation said the pair are currently in talks and the meeting could happen as early as this week.

The pair have already spoken on the phone after Kim called Johnson in jail to personally deliver news of the President's pardon.

Johnson was jailed for life in 1996 for being part of a cocaine ring, despite having an otherwise clean record and violence not featuring in the case.

She had applied for clemency during Obama's 2014 push to free non-violent drug offenders from jail, but her application was denied.

The news of a potential meeting with Kim comes after video emerged of Johnson sprinting into the arms of her waiting family in Aliceville, Alabama.

Wearing an all white outfit, she welled up as she was greeted by waiting relatives, one of whom was carrying a bunch of flowers.

The footage was captured by local station WVTM-TV.

Johnson was not the only one celebrating the news, as Kim posted a story about her release with the caption: 'BEST NEWS EVER!!!!'

'So grateful to @realDonaldTrump, Jared Kushner & to everyone who has showed compassion & contributed countless hours to this important moment for Ms. Alice Marie Johnson,' she said in a follow-up message.

'Her commutation is inspirational & gives hope to so many others who are also deserving of a second chance.'

She said: 'I hope to continue this important work by working together with organizations who have been fighting this fight for much longer than I have and deserve the recognition.'

Kardashian said later that she'd had a call with Alice Johnson and that it 'will forever be one of my best memories.'

'Telling her for the first time and hearing her screams while crying together is a moment I will never forget,' Kardashian tweeted.

Kardashian is mocked, criticized, and hated by many. I have nothing bad to say about her simply because I don't know enough about her or what she does in her life. But, this good deed she has done deserves some kudos, and that I do give.

And I'm glad President Trump granted this woman a pardon, because if anyone deserves to have a second chance after having served, as a first time offender, 22 years in prison, was a model prisoner the entire time (even the warden agrees that she should be released), it's this lady. I like that she gave God honor upon her release.

    Agree....22 years seems harsh

May God use her to minister to others and see lives changed

Yes, it is Cardinal, particularly for a first time offender, for a non-violent crime. But I agree with most that the drug penalties back then were targeted towards minorities, who received the longest prison terms for non-violent drug offenses. Drug dealers often used female mules to transport their dope. If you were caught with a kilo of cocaine, it was a mandatory life sentence.
