The ramifications of becoming the ultimate sacrifice taking on the sin of mankind may have done just that. Did the Lord cross over into the torment side of hades in Abrahams bosom?
I don't know why there is such controversy over the matter. Word of faith has always maintained by scripture that Jesus spirit was indeed affected in the regions below after He gave up "the ghost" at Calvary.
When God raised Jesus up, He loosed Him from the pains of death (Acts 2:24).
The Lord was justified or vindicated in the Spirit (1 Tim 3:16) and made alive in the spirit (1 Peter 3:18) after His resurrection.
So those who attack WOF teaching that JDS really have no justification in doing so other than bringing dissention to the body of Christ.
I don't think it's dissention some are after...some can't grasp that GOD could die spiritually...so they dismiss the JDS concept all together...but I have found an irony in that when they discuss those final days of redemption there is a gap...
To me though it's settled in the principals of the Tabernacle and the process of atonement the priests had to do, including the scape goat...how often in your Christian life have you hard someone preach Jesus was our SCAPEGGOAT...

I think it is the Jehovahs Witnesses (or maybe some other similar cult) that declare that since Jesus was God therefore he didn't feel a thing, he just pretended to be human while they tortured and crucified him. The fact that God suffered the cross as a human being is simply too much to the carnal but religious mind. The fact that he was capable of falling to temptation and had to resist it, likewise. The notion that he was in hell and had to wait patiently in faith to be resurrected from the dead again, likewise.

Always reminded God is God and I am not...I must always rely on HIM to reveal Himself and His truth to me.....
