Thread: What is being slain in the Spirit?

  1. #31
This was 25 years ago so I don't remember a lot about what happened after the experience, but I don't remember any noticeable difference in anointing or anything like that. In retrospect, I think I should have used that to draw me closer to God and seek Him more. I wasn't going the right direction with ministry, and it eventually became pretty obvious. Had I followed up on it by fasting and waiting on God I may have figured it out a lot sooner. One problem I see with Charismatics is that we spend too much time pursuing experiences and not enough time pursuing God. Falling under the power definitely got my attention, but my response to it was inadequate. We still have to live by faith and we still need to commit to prayer and the ministry of the Word like the apostles did in Acts 6:4.

Amen, seek intimacy and His face more than His hand. Knowing the heart of God is life changing. Besides, when you touch His heart He will touch yours. And those experiences do seem to happen when you least expect it.

More on this topic from Rod Saunders (at 1:45). This was a great video of a cessationist theologian who does not believe in being slain in the spirit vs. a woman who experienced it and was healed - a red-faced moment indeed.

Speaking about a person with an experience is never at the mercy of one with an opinion. It is hilarious!

This is not a manifestation of the flesh but a genuine move of the Holy Spirit.
Watch this short video and judge for yourself. Watch these Indians fall under the power of God.

If you put God First, you have Him at Last.

Referring to a post earlier, we can see that a trance is scriptural. How does the conservative crowd manage to ignore that scripture?

Let me sketch their usual reasoning :

    1) We have the truth, God's best for us
    2) We don't experience things like trances
    3) Therefore trances have ceased
    4) When someone else who doesn't believe exactly like we do (including that trances have ceased) experiences trances, they are either delusional or it's of the devil
