Thread: The Baptism of the Holy Ghost is the greatest event in Christian history...

  1. #21
Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not just a side issue, it is at the heart of God's plan for every Christian. To ignore or neglect the fullness of the Spirit is to disobey Christ.

    John 16:7
KJV 7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
NLT 7 But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don't, the Advocate won't come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.

    Luke 24:49
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

    Matt 28:20
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:

    Acts 1:4-5
4 And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
5 For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

Being filled with the Spirit is not just a suggestion, something nice, or just a good thing to happen to Christians, ... no, rather, it is a command from the very lips of Christ Himself.

    Acts 2:2
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven ...
    Acts 2:4
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

This was a God-thing, a divine encounter upon earth that originated in heaven that reverberated to the ends of the earth and is still impacting our world today, ... but it is time for it to become a mighty Tsunami, a deluge that will generate another great awakening in America and the proclamation of the Gospel to the four corners of the world!

The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus was necessary, but was not the culmination of God's plan. God's real purpose was for the saved to be filled and serve Him as living witnesses clothed with power from on high, going forth with the words of life, making disciples, and teaching them to receive that same power to reach others, ... and on and on and on .....
