A conscientious police officer probably wouldn’t have stopped the guy for Jaywalking in the first place unless it was a busy street and dangerous for him. Otherwise, residential jaywalking is so minor, I probably wouldn’t have bothered.

Yes, the “real” police officer would’ve just given him an appearance ticket and left it at that. I’ve discovered that hitting people in the wallet is a great deterrent.

So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
Police used to be trained to use their brains, use tact, respect, get to know those whom they serve.
Now they learn how to taze, shoot first.

Hate to say it, but I somewhat agree. I went to the Police Academy in 1978. We were taught defensive tactics and maneuvers. Using our weapon was the last resort and only if our life or the lives of others were threatened. I don't know where they get these scaredy-cat cops from. Like they're afraid to get their hands dirty.

In the video the first officer was going to do that because the guy kept arguing? I could not tell what the jaywalker said when that officer stated to the affect of , 'ok, I am writing you a ticket...' but that was what seemed to set off the escalation to, put your hands behind your back....ect.
I would say though that it looked to me like the officer talking to the guy was far more calm and reasonable and the guy 'behind the camera' seemed to be edgy....what I would call, itching for a fight...
One other thing....they had already given the guy at least one other warning or at least that seems to be the jest of the conversation before they exit the car?

...and ya gotta wonder if a cop is not "on his game", emotionally in the wrong state because he had a heated argument with the wife, or lost a sports bet, you name it.

I would have given him a snicker and shook his hand. Ask him to not J-walk and left him with a smile.
No problem at all.

And that’s why you weren’t called to be a law enforcement officer.

I would have been awarded the Badge of Honor, and Badge of Merit, and my picture hung on wall as best looking officer, all in the same first year.
